BIO:
I grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and now live in Brooklyn, New York. I have a bachelor's degree in linguistics from Swarthmore College and a master's degree in journalism from UC Berkeley. Feel free to email me at patrick@runkle.info.

From 2000 until 2004, I was the editorial director for ArtistPro, a music-industry trade publisher in the Bay Area. I also was editorial director for ArtistPro's short-lived national magazine, which was distributed to all the members of the GRAMMY organization. (That includes Phil Spector.)

Current activities include my band, Ganymede, my trips to Canada, and various other things I do. (See above for links.) I also have a large collection of oversize video boxes from the early 80s.

I've been in Pittsburgh since Sunday for last night's Ganymede show, and I was able to sample a delightful bit of local cuisine: the Number 7 Roethlisburger, served at Peppi's sandwich shop in the Strip District. This sandwich is the only thing a human needs to eat in a day, with hamburger, italian sausage, a fried egg, cheese, and mayo.

I took this fun pic of Spike Lee at last Sunday's Knicks game...

Here's a fabulous article in the Times about the status of GnR's Chinese Democracy, the legendary album that, I'm convinced, doesn't exist even in a partial sense. This piece reveals that $13 million has already been spent on this turkey ... and does that count Axl's hair extensions and face tightening?

Amazingly enough, the crazies trying to save Enterprise have secured pledges for $3 million. This is the single craziest act in the history of Trek fandom; it's an attempt to save a show that is not particularly fresh and completely irrelevant. Moreover, how could Paramount possibly accept outside money to a produce a television show? It doesn't make any sense.

While the show has its good moments, these people who think they're Bjo Trimble need to do a serious reality check.
